nucleareurope co-organises EEF breakfast on the nuclear supply chain
On 5 May 2026, the European Energy Forum (EEF), in partnership with nucleareurope, GE Vernova and Orano, organised a breakfast event on the nuclear supply chain, hosted in the European Parliament. The event was attended by several Member of the European Parliament (MEPs) and EEF Associate members representing a diverse range of industries.
As part of the event, nucleareurope Director General Emmanuel Brutin discussed the role of nuclear in the European energy system. He specifically noted that member States with a higher share of nuclear and renewables in their power generation mix have faced lower electricity prices in the past years.
Emmanuel then highlighted the importance of the European nuclear value chain for energy sovereignty, stressing that nuclear is one of the few industries with its value chain almost entirely based in Europe. He added that an enabling policy framework will be vital to allow the sector to ramp up its domestic supply chain and deliver on investments.
“In our recently released Policy Action Plan, we list a set of concrete policy actions which can have a major impact to help the nuclear industry strengthen its contribution to EU competitiveness, energy sovereignty, and decarbonisation” stressed Emmanuel, before giving an overview of nucleareurope’s position on a set of key policy areas.
Following Emmanuel’s intervention, Morgane Augé, SVP Government Affairs at Orano, detailed Orano’s role along the whole nuclear fuel supply value chain, and discussed the company’s fuel recycling capabilities. GE Vernova’s Head of Governmental Affairs and Policy for Europe Bertrand Deprez then highlighted best practices examples from Europe and beyond to strengthen the nuclear supply chain.
The event concluded with a Q&A session between the speakers, MEPs and other participants.
