nucleareurope visits Enusa’s Juzbado factory

On 29 October 2025, nucleareurope Director General Emmanuel Brutin travelled to Spain to visit the Juzbado nuclear fuel assembly factory, operated by Enusa. The visit provided the opportunity to exchange on Enusa’s role in providing nuclear fuel to Spanish and European nuclear operators, and on the importance of supporting a Europe based nuclear fuel cycle to ensure energy sovereignty.

During the visit, Emmanuel exchanged with plant Director Pablo Vega on Enusa’s strategic priorities, as well as on the factories technical capabilities. Emmanuel specifically highlighted the importance of supporting European fuel cycle actors to reinforce the nuclear industry’s contribution to European energy sovereignty.

Furthermore, as a producer of fuel assemblies for some Russian design reactors (VVERs) operated in Europe, the Juzbado factory plays an essential role in providing EU based alternatives to Russian nuclear fuel imports.
