nucleareurope discusses supply chain at IGEOS Nuclear Power Industry Congress
On 14 October 2026, nucleareurope Legal & International Relations Director Berta Picamal participated in the 4th IGEOS Nuclear Power Industry Congress, organised in Warsaw. The event gathered industrial stakeholders and policymakers to discuss the implementation of nuclear projects in Poland, as well as the country’s decarbonisation strategy.
In the framework of the conference, Berta moderated a panel session entitled “European Experience in Building Nuclear Supply Chains – Lessons Learned for Poland”, which explored supply chain challenges and opportunities in Europe. The panel brought together nuclear association representatives from multiple EU Member States (Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Spain and Finland), who gave an overview of supply chain developments in their respective countries.
In addition to moderating the discussion, Berta highlighted the importance of ramping up the EU nuclear supply chain. She specifically noted that nuclear was a sector strongly anchored in Europe, with 5685 companies currently part of the European nuclear value chain, and stressed that as new nuclear projects flourish, investments in the supply chain should also be accelerated.
“We are looking at moving from 100 Gigawatt (GW) of installed nuclear capacity in the EU today to 150GW by 2050, and we must ensure that the European supply chain is robust enough to support these investments” concluded Berta, calling for European policies which accelerate the development of domestic supply chain capacity.
