nucleareurope moderates panel on intergenerational dialogue at European Nuclear Energy Forum
From 6 to 7 October 2025, nucleareurope Director General Emmanuel Brutin and Communications and Advocacy Director Jessica Johnson participated in the 18th European Nuclear Energy Forum (ENEF), held in Bratislava. The event, organised by the European Commission, serves as a forum for open and transparent discussions on nuclear energy’s role in Europe’s future.
As part of the event, nucleareurope Communications and Advocacy Director Jessica Johnson, along with Slovak Technical University Professor Vladimir Slugeň, moderated a session on the topic of intergenerational dialogue, which explored how to invest in young professionals and students. The session specifically addressed the question of skills and workforce needs in the nuclear sector, and its importance for the EU to maintain technological leadership in the nuclear sector.
Panellists included young generation representatives, academics and senior industry professionals to discuss pathways to tackle the skills challenge in the nuclear industry, and exchange on young professionals needs and aspirations. Existing initiatives, such as the Skills4Nuclear project – in which nucleareurope is a partner – were also discussed.
The Forum’s other sessions allowed to explore a wide range of key questions, such as investment in new nuclear energy projects and long-term operation of the existing reactor fleet, the nuclear fuel cycle and supply chain, as well as non-power applications of nuclear.
