nucleareurope priorities presented at GIFEN International Day
On 12 March 2026, nucleareurope Legal and International Relations Director Berta Picamal participated in the Paris-held GIFEN International Day, which brought together multiple industrial and institutional stakeholders from across Europe.
As part of the event, Berta gave a short presentation, introducing nucleareurope’s structure and current priorities. She also highlighted evolutions in the nuclear debate in Europe, and recent policy developments at EU levels.
“The past few years have seen major shifts in terms of public perception of nuclear across member States, with an increasing share of the population supporting the technology” highlighted Berta, adding that this has translated to an improved recognition of the role of nuclear in the EU, and positive policy evolutions.
Berta however stressed that there is still work to be done to achieve a truly technology neutral framework at EU level, and gave an overview of some key advocacy priorities for nucleareurope, including the Clean Industrial Deal, nuclear financing, the Nuclear Illustrative Programme (PINC), the 2040 Climate Framework and the SMR Industrial Alliance.
Berta concluded her intervention by thanking GIFEN for organising a successful event which facilitated discussion between diverse stakeholders, providing a comprehensive picture of national nuclear developments in various regions.
